Sergei is an Officer in Umbrella, although some may suggest he is also Spencer's right hand man. His sense of the loyalty to the Corporation prove that he can be trusted and is probably why there are rumours that he is also the man behind "Monitor", a secret group within Umbrella that spies on their employees to make sure that nothing untoward is going on within the company.

Sergei was a Colonel in the Soviet Union army and his expertise in military affairs was the reason he was able to help put together Umbrella's own militia - the U.B.C.S. He brought in several friends from his army days which tells us that he likes to know who he is working with as it is important to him that he can trust them and that they will obey his orders.

The Colonel is also heavily involved in the Tyrant program and infact became the genetic model for it after the initial T-001 & T-002 project. He is usually seen with his bodyguard "Ivan", a re-engineered T-003 that could pass off as human.

Sergei is a proud man and very passionate about his loves which include the Umbrella Corporation and also his home country Russia. He likes to see things through, no matter how many sacrifices have to be made and will stop at nothing to make sure that Umbrella remains strong. He isn't afraid of starting from scratch as he believes that he is unstoppable. However, he doesn't appear to be completely heartless because we learn on a couple of occasions that he is regretful of the way that things have to progress and this unfortunately would appear to be a weakness.
